Our Foundation Purposes:
To assist qualified charitable organizations providing educational, health, and guidance assistance to children and youth.
To provide educational programs to educate the public on the history of the community through lectures and tours using the portraits of prominent community leaders on display in The Westmoreland Club, to foster public understanding of and appreciation for the rich heritage of the community.
To support historic preservation activities in the community including the maintenance of the exterior structure of The Westmoreland Club located in a late 19th century Georgian Revival mansion designated a contributing factor in the approval of the Downtown Wilkes-Barre National Register Historic District.
Second Annual Dr. Christopher Barbarevech Memorial Scholarship:
“In 2015, the idea surfaced of putting a group together to create the Westmoreland Club Charitable Foundation for the purpose of providing scholarships for Westmoreland Club Staff and their families. I reached out for help to two of the most generous Club members I knew, Jack Weinberg and Dr. Christopher Barbarevech. The three of us understood
that we not only needed to raise funds for an endowment, we needed to immediately make substantial personal contributions so that the Westmoreland Club Charitable Foundation could provide scholarships from day one while spreading the good word and building an
endowment that could eventually be self-sustaining. Both of these gentlemen agreed. We created the Foundation and populated a strong Board of Directors. Today, I’m proud to say that the WCCF is thriving and continues to provide scholarship assistance for our staff and their families.
